How to Apply for Crop Insurance in Chhattisgarh

In Chhattisgarh, the government’s flagship program for crop insurance, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), is being implemented. PMFBY provides farmers with insurance coverage against crop yield loss due to multiple external perils, such as drought, flood, prolonged dry period, landslides, cyclones, storms, pests, and diseases. For this scheme, the State Government will conduct the Cutting Experiment (CCE) process on the notified crops in the notified areas. In the event of a shortfall in yield figures based on CCE, farmers will be entitled to compensation.

  • In crop insurance, a lot of premium is taken from the farmers. The government pays most of the premium so that no farmer is left out of being insured. So that the damage caused by the disaster can be compensated.
  • Technology has been used extensively in PMFBY. Due to this, the time to settle the claim can be reduced considerably.

How to Take Insurance Claim

Kharif crops are protected by insurance, so you do not need to worry about them. You must inform the bank if you have insurance through the bank, and the bank will relay your request to the insurance company. Your crop will then be inspected and surveyed by a surveyor from the insurance company. Their survey will determine whether your crop loss is genuine, and your claim will be accepted. Within the next few days/months, your bank account will be credited with the assistance/claim amount.

Conclusion

As you may already know, crop insurance is based on the crop (Rabi, Kharif, and Zaid). Insurers will determine whether you get insurance based on the type of crop. The insurance amount will be given only to you if the crop fails; otherwise, nothing will be given. Thus, if you have taken crop insurance for this season (Rabi), you should keep in mind that if the crop fails (because of rain or any other calamity), your policy may not be valid. The insurance company must be contacted immediately.
